Policies

Admission

Rules are Rules

Part of the preschool experience is to train students, and sometimes their families, to follow the rules and regulations.

Handbook

All families receive a printed handbook which is updated annually. It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to read and understand this material. If you have questions about any of our policies, please contact us.

Payments
  • The annual registration fee, supply fee and snack fee are due at registration.
  • Monthly tuition payment due on the 1st day of each month and is due a month in advance. Late payment fee is $10.00.
  • We accept cash, check or money order for all payments. Make check or money order payable to Congregational Preschool (or Congo PS).
  • Payments may be mailed or placed into the tuition lock box inside by the locker cubbies.
  • Insufficient funds check fee is $20. If a second check is returned by the bank, all remaining tuition payments must be in form of cash or money order. Contact of Financial Secretary if there is a problem with your payment.
  • No refunds will be made if the child is absent due to family vacation or illness.

Inclement Weather

We occasionally close for bad weather; we follow the Austin Public School District decisions when closing for bad weather (will be posted on KAAL online & on tv).

  • 2 hour delay means morning preschool is cancelled.
  • Early release due to weather means no afternoon preschool.
  • Cancellation due to weather means ALL preschool classes are cancelled.

Transportation

Parents are responsible for arranging transportation for their student. Car pools may be organized with other parents. Community bussing is another option to consider. The 2017-2018 application can be filled out here.

Pick-up and Drop-off
  • Accompany child into the school and check in with the teachers.
  • Please let the school know if someone other than the usual person is to pick up your child.
  • Please let the school know if there is someone you do not ever want to take your child from school.
  • Keep the teachers up to date if there are changes to the people who can pick up your child from school.
  • Please be prompt when picking up your child.  If you know you will be late, please call or text Meredith (507-219-0840) and get someone else to pick up your child.
  • Parents more than 10 minutes late will be charged a late fee of $5 for every 5 minutes that they are late.
Birthdays

Parents usually bring a snack for the class on their child's birthday. Please contact the teacher a few days ahead of the date to make arrangements. Do not bring cupcakes as they are hard to eat and are often wasted. Health regulations prohibit us from serving food prepared at home.
Children with summer birthdays may celebrate their half birthday or near the end of the school year.
Please do not send birthday invitations to school to hand out.  Use your class list to mail invitations or call guests.

Other Basic Rules
  • We do not permit, even pretend, “gun play” at school.
  • We do not permit chewing of gum.
  • Do not let your child bring money or coins to school. They are easily lost and impossible to identify by owner.
